A Step Towards Knowledge – DEAR Activity at MGPS
On 12th August 2025, Mithi Gobindram Public School observed National Librarian’s Day by organising the “Drop Everything And Read” (DEAR) Activity to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the ‘Father of Library Science’ in India.
Students, teachers, Class IV staff, coordinators, and the school leadership actively participated in the session, reading books in silence and realising the importance of developing a consistent reading habit. The stillness of the moment was filled with the power of words and the joy of learning.
Principal Mr. A. K. Manikandan emphasised that time spent with books brings new perspectives and positivity in life, while Vice Principal Mrs. Rekha Kewlani highlighted that silent reading nurtures concentration and deep thinking. Librarian Mr. Ravindra Chopade inspired students to use the library regularly, describing it as a temple of knowledge where each book offers a unique experience and lesson.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to dedicate time daily to reading, connecting themselves to the endless journey of knowledge.
