National days are celebrated at Mithi Gobindram Public School with great zeal and enthusiasm. Keeping the tradition alive, the school celebrated the 72nd Independence day with great splendor, joy and respect for the mother land.

The vibrant morning of 15th August witnessed the sweet breeze tinged with patriotism blown across the campus and among the management, staff and students.. The Tricolour badges were given to all the staff members and the students by Rev. Siddh Bhauji in the form of best wishes and greetings for the Independence Day.

The day began with unfurling of the National Flag in the presence of Mr. Hero Gyanchandani, Vice President of SHKES, Mr. A.C. Sadhwani, Secretary, SHKES, Chief Guest Col. Rakesh Budhani, Col. Narayan Parwani, Dr. Ajay Kant Sharma, Principal, Mrs. Rita Gurbani, Vice Principal, Coordinators, Facilitators and the students.

Ceremonial lamp was lit in the holy feet of Maa Saraswati, Maa Bharti and Paramhans Sant Hirdaram Sahibji by Rev. Siddh Bhauji and all other dignitaries.

Col. Narayan Parwaniji introduced the Chief Guest of the day Col. Rakesh Budhani. He shared with everyone that Col. Rakesh Budhaniji has a brilliant army career to his credit. He has rendered his services at the most difficult LOC i.e. the Siachen Glacier.

Chief Guest Colonel Rakesh Budhani started his speech by asking the students about the meaning of the slogan 'Jai Hind' and who coined it. Furthermore he highlighted the importance of soldiers for a nation. He asked one and all to remember and read about the freedom fighters who scarified their lives for the cause of Indian Independence.

He said that at an age where most of us are unable to figure out what to do in life, freedom fighters like Shaheed Khudiram Bose, Shaheed Hemu Kalani got martyred. He ignited the spirit of patriotism by sharing sacrifices of freedom fighters like Mangal Pandey, Rani Laxmi Bai, Bhagat Singh and  Chandra Shekhar Azaad. He also advised the children to take care of their health by eating nutritious food and doing exercise on regular basis.

Paying tribute to the heroes of Kargil War Mithians acknowledged the efforts and gallantry of our Armed Forces through a Skit Presentation-'Kargil Ke Seene Se' presented by 45 Students (Std. VIII to XII) under the guidance and direction of Mrs. Durga Mishra, Mrs. Swati Singh, Ms. Nisha Thapa, Mrs. Kamini Soni and Ms. Huma Ullah Khan. The skit highlighted the armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July in the year 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the LOC in India. The conflict is also referred to as Operation Vijay. Though, the Indian soldiers successfully gained back the high altitude outposts occupied by Pakistani intruders culminating under the 'Operation Vijay', the country also lost over 500 brave sons of the soil who laid down their lives for their motherland.

The skit was an eye-opener for the young generation who got to know about the brave hearts who fought fearlessly in the extreme weather condition, laying down their lives to protect the country. The skit gave the message that the heroes of the Kargil War can never be forgotten and we should cherish our freedom always.

Rev. Siddh Bhauji and other dignitaries honoured the Chief Guest with Saropa and Shreefal. The programme concluded  with singing of the National song. Comparing was done by Mrs. Dilawez Khan, PGT-English.
